Cookie policy

1. What this covers

Out of habit we call cookies everything a site stores on a visitor’s device in order to recognise it later: cookies proper, and also the browser’s local storage. The law treats both the same way, and so does this policy.

2. Nothing is placed before you decide

When you first reach the site, everything that is not strictly necessary is refused by default. Until you press Accept, Meta’s measurement code is not even downloaded: it is not loaded and kept quiet, it is simply never requested.

Refusing costs you nothing. The site works the same, the form works the same, and your request gets the same answer.

3. What we use

• Your cookie choice. It lives in the browser’s local storage under the name adl-consent, so that we do not ask you again. It is strictly necessary and stays until you clear the site data.
• The anti-bot check on the request form. Placed by Cloudflare on the pages where that form appears, to tell a person from a program. Without it the form would be open to automated submissions. It is not used to identify you or to follow you.
• Meta’s measurement, known as the Facebook pixel. It is placed only after you accept, and tells us which pages are viewed and which adverts bring in conversations and quote requests. The cookie names, _fbp and _fbc, and their durations are the ones Meta publishes in the documentation for the service.

We do not use cookies to follow you across other sites or to build a profile about you. What Meta receives lets us know whether one of our adverts led to a conversation, not show you third-party advertising.

4. Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time under Cookie settings, which is always in the site footer. Withdrawing consent is as quick as giving it: from that moment nothing further is sent.

You can also delete and block cookies in your browser settings. If you do, the choice you had saved goes with them, and we will ask again on your next visit. Only the anti-bot check may ask you to confirm again that you are a person when you submit the form.

5. Changes to this policy

If we start using cookies other than those listed here, this list changes before they are placed, and the consent box reappears to ask you again.
